So Kindle Vella is a new way to follow writers, read their new stories posted episode by episode (kind of like chapters) and participate in a big bunch of popularity building things like ‘thumbs ups!’ and ‘crown your top stories!’ and ‘review your faves!’.
It’s like a cross between binging a tv series and rotten-tomato-ing it in 2020 and reading a victorian newspaper serial way back in 1836. To be truthful it’s a little more like the old-timey serial since it’s actually the written word.
Yeah, you got me, it’s exactly like the serial. That’s exactly what it is.
The first three episodes of every story is free. After that tokens are used to purchase and pay for each episode, kind of like buying a stack of tickets for rides at the fair. (Hurry now, Amazon is giving away 200 tokens for free, that means you can read my entire story so far without paying a cent.)
What I’m saying is: take binge tv, victorian serials, and fair rides, mix them up and you have the new Kindle Vella program.
And at launch my story was there launching along with it.
My story is called Liam and Blakely. It’s a romcom about a Scottish man who owns a bar and hotel near the head of a hiking trail. And a woman from California with a broken-heart who crashlands in his life.
I can’t tell you much more because the plot is unfolding…
But Liam is a wisecracking, ex-rugby player, and has quickly become a fan favorite.
The story is at the top 10 of humor, romcom, contemporary romance and other fun things.
You can begin the journey here: Liam and Blakely
(please don’t forget to thumbs it up and crown it special!)
and if all this kindle vella, serial, episode, token business is a bridge too far, the new story is also being posted early for my patrons over on patreon.com/dianaknightley

ps. this is my new substack and I would love to answer questions about writing, publishing, my stories, the locations, etc. Got any pressing questions? Leave them in the comments and I’ll try to address them soon.
Hey Diana! Love Liam and Blakely. Missing the FB group, but I’ve gone off of most social media. I kept IG, so I can watch cat videos. Good luck with Vella. -Sly
