Recap: Get ready for #16, Only a Breath Away

Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve read the last book, perhaps you can’t remember what happened last — so much! What do you need to know so that you can dive right in?

So, remember how near the end of Book #14, The Guardian, there was a big battle of Kilchurn? That’s important.

Sophie (James’s wife), was kidnapped during it. But James went to the year 1589, Dunscaith castle and rescued her.

Trouble was, he was kinda late, she was *pregnant* with Domnall’s kid.

So in the book, Magnus the First, Ormr and Domnall (half brothers to Fraoch) are threatening the gang because they want Sophie back. Sophie dies.

James loops back to 1589 to save her, he loops and loops and loops, but she dies every time.

He stops looping, and we all mourn the loss of Sophie.

MEANTIME, Mags is having these weird dream-memories of living in the 13th century. Fraoch is there, a man named Caillean, they have battles, adventures, meet a witch, gain a dog named Haggis. Ormr and Domnall are there. Mags isn’t sure what it means, but thinks he’s reliving memories of what hasn’t-happened-yet in a big burrito-mind-twist.

He accepts a challenge to battle for the throne in the year 2389 from Domnall.

They battle, but in the middle of it, sh*t goes weird, there are drones, there’s a storm, there’s a vessel in the middle of the ground, Magnus and Fraoch jump on the vessel and BAM! They’re in the 13th century.

They’re living the memories from inside the burrito mind-twist.

The gang doesn’t know where they are — so far back that to get a message out it has to be BIG.

Magnus becomes the king of Scotland. His coronation at Scone is 1290.

That’s big enough, the gang back in Florida read about it on Wikipedia.

No one from present day wants to loop, so grownup Archie, Ben, and Isla (from 2406) use the Trailblazer to chart the path all the way to the middle ages.

Then Kaitlyn jumps back to get Magnus but it’s complicated for him to leave medieval Scotland, things are shifting, Ormr and Domnall are menacing, memories are clouded, Magnus doesn’t know what is real, what isn’t. Time is shifting and unstable. He doesn’t realize when she leaves.

Kaitlyn is in Florida, not sure what is happening, but they seem to be under attack by drones, everything is shifting though, no one knows what is real, what isn’t.

The whole gang*, kids and all, escape to 1290 to meet up with Magnus.

*Except Hayley is in Rehab (long story) Fraoch stays to wait for her.

And that’s where this new story begins!

Page one is the moment they land in 1290.

So now you’re ready and I can’t wait for you to read it.
