I got asked the other day in the FB group if book 21 ended on a cliff and whether I had abandoned the story. (By the way, are you a member over there? Lots of fun conversations!)
My answer to both parts of it are no. There are a few books in the series that are great places to stop, good endings, if you want to get off the ride. The best example of one is Time is a Wheel (18). Time is a Wheel has a good ending, sewn up tidily. Nothing more you need to know… unless you want to.
But I wanted to know more, especially about being in Mag Mòr’s kingdom in the medieval 13th century Scotland, so I wrote Long Live the King (19) and The Dawn (20) with a focus on that long ago time. Both of those books end in cliffs, maybe not my steepest, but yes, you will want the next book. Probably.

But The Empire and the Wolf King is not a cliff and is an ending. That means the series is done, unless I want to know more, I do seem to want more.
My ‘wanting more’ hasn’t fully blossomed yet, as I’m still writing Torin and the Princess, and Torin is on my mind, he’s hot, handsome, loyal, strong, courageous, and not a little bit in trouble.
But there is a bloom: what happened when Magnus and Kaitlyn get to go home to Florida at the end of the last book? Colonel Quentin is turning on the lights, Chef Zach is going to have to clean out the refrigerator. There are some little details that I want to know and to that end I’ve written a couple of chapters. I will be releasing those here on this Substack in a bit. (But not right now, right now I’m in rewrites on Torin and the Princess, got my head down, fingers flying on the keyboard.)
And likely, no promises, but probably, those new little chapters about Magnus and Kaitlyn will blossom into a full book. Because I always seem to want to know more about them and I am incorrigible.
Sincerely yours,
Diana
Diana, as always thank you for the updates. Can’t wait to officially meet Torin!!!
Have loved the journey you took us on with Kaitlyn and Magnus. How can I just leave them behind when I feel there are so many more possibilities in Their lives? But looking forward to Torino’s story to see what will happen. Good luck and good hunting (don’t ask me why I wrote that, just seemed like a good way to end the sentence 😂).
